New Quarantine Guidelines for Covid-19 Exposures: As many of you are aware the CDC has updated the guidelines for quarantine after a direct exposure to Covid-19. Effective Immediately and retroactively Cherokee Public Schools will be implementing these guidelines. Meaning any students or staff currently in quarantine will fall under these guidelines. These guidelines apply to individuals who have exhibited no Covid like symptoms. 1. The quarantine period is 7 days if a Covid test is taken on day 5 or 6 of quarantine and the result is negative. A copy of the test results will need to be provided to the school. 2. The quarantine is 10 days if no test is taken. 3. Anyone who is exposed must monitor symptoms for 14 days from exposure and if symptoms appear will need to return to quarantine. A covid test is encouraged if symptoms are present. Please call the school if you have any questions.

Dear Cherokee Families,

After consulting with the Health Department in regards to our positive case, it has been determined that our 5th Grade class will need to be quarantined and placed on distance learning beginning Oct. 1st and ending Oct. 13th. Due to the nature of the High School classes on September 28th and 29th there will not be a need for those students to quarantine according to the Health Department's guidelines. High School students asked to remain at home today may return to school immediately. All 5th grade families will be notified by letter in the next few days on the Health Departments recommendations for quarantine procedures. As always, Cherokee Public Schools are committed to maintaining a safe and healthy environment for all students and staff while providing the best educational services possible.

*All of our quarantine procedures and contact tracing are guided by the State and County Health Department.

Sincerely,

Bryce Schanbacher

Cherokee Families,

We have had two members of our maintenance crew test positive for Covid-19. We have identified two other staff members who were in close contact and will begin immediate quarantine. Other than family members of the individuals testing positive we have zero students identified as being in close contact with either of the positive cases during the past 48 hours. We will continue to monitor the situation and make decisions as we gather necessary information. We will begin sanitizing and disinfecting the areas and equipment that have been in use immediately. It is our continued goal to maintain a healthy and safe environment for all our students and staff. All of our quarantine procedures and contact tracing are guided by the State and County Health Department.

Thank you,

Cherokee Public Schools
