Cherokee, OK — Cherokee Junior High and Cherokee School District are two of only 21 Oklahoma public school sites selected to receive the 2026 Oklahoma Educational Technology Trust (OETT) Grant for Schools. We are deeply grateful to OETT for this generous investment in our students, staff, and community.
Each grant provides $40,000 in technology equipment and $25,000 in year-long professional development. The Cherokee Junior High award will fund technology for the Junior High science and math classrooms. The district-level grant will bring Virtual Reality headsets and launch a Drone program.
This recognition continues a recent streak of OETT support across Cherokee schools. Cherokee Elementary was a 2024 recipient and received iPads, Q-Balls, Beast of Balance game materials, interactive boards, and MacBooks. Cherokee High School received the award last year and gained Chromebooks, iPads, MacBooks, and video editing software and equipment. We thank OETT for its ongoing commitment to our district.
OETT’s mission to equip Oklahoma students with the technology and technological skills needed to compete globally aligns closely with our district goals. The Trust’s funds support technology, infrastructure, leadership, and professional development to advance meaningful technology integration in classroom instruction.
We also extend our appreciation to the K20 Center (through OK-ACTS) at the University of Oklahoma, which provides the essential professional development that helps grant recipients implement new technologies successfully. This initiative has positively impacted thousands of teachers and students across Oklahoma, and we are proud to be part of that progress.
“We are extremely thankful to OETT for this funding,” said Superintendent Schanbacher. “These resources will expand hands-on learning opportunities and help prepare our students for future careers in science, technology, engineering, and math.”
